Colter's broken foot

I broke my ankle about two weeks ago when I was working on the rigs. I was walking down some icy stairs when I slipped on and quickly slid down 16 stairs. At the bottom of those stairs, I was sliding really fast and the pressure of the fall twisted my leg and broke my ankle. I heard the snap and everything. They don't expect me to return to work for six or seven months.

Two weeks since the accident I was attacked by this guy. I was assaulted on the street and basically beat the shit out of. I had my crutches and everything.

I did this u-turn and didn't realize that this dude was right there. He gave me the finger and yelled some profanities and I gave him the finger and yelled back.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I've seen people do that a lot here in Vancouver. I continued driving to this bike store and I didn't realize that he was following me. I got out of the car with my crutches and was just closing the door when he ripped up behind where we were parked in his Volkswagen Golf. He got out of his car and walked swiftly up to me while I was standing there with my crutches. He barely said anything. Something like, "what the fuck is your problem". I started to reply but didn't finish my sentence. He punched me once in the mouth and knocked me off my crutches.

I tried to stay up by putting pressure on my already broken foot and heard it crackle. It was more of a feeling then a sound really. I fell to the ground and he proceeded to kick me three or four times. Twice in the head and a couple more times in the body. I was screaming in pain because of my broken ankle and yelling for help. I was scared for my life. Chelsii ran up to him and was screaming at him to stop. She was screaming to call the cops and to call 911. I think that there was a point that this guy just stopped and realized what was going on. There was a dude on the ground yelling in pain - something about a broken ankle; people were screaming and calling the cops; his daughter was in the car watching the whole event. He stopped. He just ran to his car, got in and left.

I lay on the ground face down and rested for about five or so minutes. I knew that my ankle was broken and my head hurt. I just felt like I needed to rest. The fire truck was the first to show up and give me oxygen. By this point I had moved myself to the curb. There was a point that the ambulance attendant asked me what age I was, I stalled for a bit and told her I am 20 (I'm actually 21). I was taken to the hospital and treated for concussion and received x-rays for my ankle.

The cop is going to go over to this guy's place tonight and giving us a call tomorrow. It's been 48 hours since the accident and I'm not acting normal. I'm very irritable and my head, neck and back are sore. I'm sort of drowsy. I'm not sure if

I've always been this way but I'm having a bit of trouble with my memory. I don't know if I was this way before but I can't remember my girlfriend's birthday, all I can think of is hamburgers, cats, kung-fu chickens and my hate of horses.

Update: March 3rd, 2005

The cop that took our statements came by our place and took another statement from me. She said that the guy that assaulted me came by the station. She talked to him and took a statement. She couldn't legally talk about what this guy said but she hinted that this guy was saying that I threw down my crutches and punched him in the face. I'm not worried about him saying this because there are a lot of witnesses that say different.

I have a lawyer here in Vancouver and I'm going to be talking to him soon to see if he'll take my case. After this guy is charged with assault, we are able to take him to civil court and sue him for whatever he's good for. The

People that I have talked to believe that we should take this guy to the extent of the law and make sure that he's charged in full. That sounds good to me. Maybe he can help me pay off my student loans!

Update March 20th, 2005

The guy is for sure going to be charged now. My lawyer doesn't know if it will be worth suing him as he might not have much. I have to distinguish him out of a line up by the end of this month.
